Rewards and currency

How the reward your users get is worked out from what you earn and the currency settings of your app, and what your postback receives.

Where you set it

Every app has its own currency. Open your dashboard, Apps, your app, Currency. The settings apply to everything of that app: the offerwall, the Offers API, and the mobile SDKs.

SettingWhat it does
Currency nameWhat your users collect, for example Coins, Points, or Gems. It arrives as {currency} in postbacks and as currency in the APIs.
Conversion rateHow many units of your currency equal $1 of your earnings, before the split. For example 1000.
Split to user (%)The share of your earnings your users receive as currency, a whole number from 1 to 100. You are paid in US dollars either way.
Reward roundingWhole numbers, or up to 3 decimals. See Rounding.
BonusA temporary boost on top of every reward. See Bonuses.

The Currency tab has a calculator that shows what your users get for a few example payouts, so you can try settings before you save them.

How the reward is calculated

reward = payout × conversion rate × split to user / 100 × (1 + bonus / 100)
then rounded with your rounding rule

payout is what you earn for the step, in US dollars. It is the same value as {payout} in postbacks and payout_usd in the APIs. bonus is 0 when no bonus is running.

Rounding

  • Whole numbers turn 16.65 into 17. Up to 3 decimals turn 0.0084 into 0.008. Halves round up, so 2.5 becomes 3.
  • Want to pay users in dollars? Set the conversion rate to 1, the split to the share you pass on, and choose up to 3 decimals. Rewards then arrive in dollars, for example 0.375.
  • An offer whose reward would be 0 after rounding is not shown to your users. With a low rate and whole numbers, small offers can drop out: raise the rate or choose up to 3 decimals.
  • Every step of an offer is rounded on its own. The reward of the whole offer is the sum of its rounded steps, so it can differ slightly from rounding the total.

Offers with several steps

  • Each step, for example creating an account or reaching a level, has its own payout and its own reward. It is credited as its own transaction, with its own {transaction_id} and its own postback.
  • The reward the offerwall and the Offers API show for an offer is the total of all its steps.
  • A revshare offer pays a share of each deal the user makes, so it can be credited several times. Each credit is calculated the same way from the payout of that credit. In the Offers API, reward is the lowest amount of one credit and reward_max the most it can reach.

Bonuses

  • Turn on Bonus on the Currency tab and set a percentage up to 500, for example 10 for rewards that are 10% higher. You can add a start and an end, in the time zone of your account, and repeat it every day or every week. A repeating bonus needs a start and an end.
  • While the bonus runs, every reward on the offerwall, in the Offers API, and in the mobile SDKs is higher by that percentage. If the bonus has an end, your users see a live countdown on the offerwall.
  • The bonus is paid from your own share: what you earn in US dollars stays the same, and your users get more of your currency for it.
  • A step gets the bonus when it is credited while the bonus runs. A step credited after the bonus ended gets the normal reward, even if the user started the offer during the bonus.
  • The Offers API shows bonus_percent and, for every offer, reward_before_bonus, so you can show the normal amount next to the boosted one.

The reward in postbacks

  • {reward} is calculated when the step is credited, and stored with the transaction. A reversal (status 2) carries the same {reward} as the credit it cancels.
  • When you change your currency settings, the change applies to steps credited after it. Rewards already credited do not change, and neither do their reversals.
  • {reward} and {payout} are plain numbers with a dot as the decimal separator, no thousands separator, and no trailing zeros, for example 250, 17, or 0.375. Use them exactly as received when you check the hash.
  • {reward} is already in your currency. Add it to the user as it is, and never convert it again.

Questions

Why does my postback show a different reward than the offerwall did?

The offerwall shows the reward for your current settings and any bonus running right now. The postback carries the reward calculated when the step was credited. A bonus that ended in between, or a change to your currency settings, makes the two differ.

Do I earn less when I run a bonus?

No. Your payout in US dollars stays the same. The bonus comes out of your own share: your users get more of your currency for the same earnings.

Can a reward be negative?

No. A reversal sends the same positive amount with status 2, and the status tells you to take it back.

Can I use different currencies for my website and my mobile app?

Each app has one currency. Add a second app for a second currency, and use the same user IDs in both if the same people use them.
